Earth is Alive with Sensors!
The ability to evolve climatology by mapping the signals of the Earth is changing how we think about what data makes possible! Futurist Jason Silva is excited about the advances of data science and discusses how they affect efforts to mitigate and adapt to climate change in this, his third video in a series. For the first time, we have extended sensors all over and above the Earth, from orbiting satellite sensors to temperature and sea level detection systems, and these are all facilitating the capacity of science to find, record and understand the changes on, above and below the surface of our world. Quantifying and seeing patterns in large swaths of data can give us insight into certain decisions that we make and how public policy changes have an effect on the planet.
